The violin construction

The "Cremonese" method with the inside shape

Using the “Cremonese” method with the inside shape, the instrument profile is shaped around a mould which is then extracted, before closing the body, and reused.

This prevents any standardization or serialization work and each instrument takes on new and unique characteristics.

Varnishing is one of the most important and delicate steps and if done improperly or without experience, it could undermine the work carried out during previous phases.

This gallery shows the main violin construction phases, from wood selection to the final assembly and acoustic set up.
